ManyChat alternatives for Instagram: 8 comment-to-DM tools, priced at your volume

ManyChat Free covers 25 people a month. We compared 8 Instagram comment-to-DM alternatives on free limits, real prices and features, checked on 4 Oct 2026.

11 min read

ManyChat's free plan covers 25 people a month. Not 25 a day. Post one Reel that says “comment RECIPE”, have 26 people do it, and the month's free allowance is gone. Its pricing page lists the extra-contact price on Free as “N/A”.

That's usually when the search for a ManyChat alternative starts. Most lists you'll find then answer a different question: they compare WhatsApp help desks and website chatbots. This one compares only tools that do Instagram comment-to-DM, the job below, with prices read from each vendor's own page.

Why people look for a ManyChat alternative

Three things push people off ManyChat, and all three are on ManyChat's own pages.

25

people a month on ManyChat Free

Active contacts, with up to 4 live automations

$92

Essential at 1,000 people

$17 plus 750 extra contacts at $0.10. Pro ($39) is cheaper here

1

Instagram account per ManyChat account

Each extra account is billed separately

  1. It bills people, not messages. ManyChat counts active contacts: One person = one Active Contact for the month. A contact counts when messages are sent or received through Manychat - via automations, AI, Broadcasts, or the Inbox, so replying by hand in its inbox counts too.
  2. Going over costs extra by default. If you go over it, your automations don't suddenly shut off, we'll just charge a small overage fee. You can set a cap, but the fee is the starting point: $0.10 per extra contact on Essential, $0.05 on Pro.
  3. Every Instagram account is a separate bill. ManyChat's help center says you can run several ManyChat accounts, and each one is billed separately. An agency with five clients pays for five subscriptions.

We break the bill down month by month, with a calculator, in ManyChat pricing in 2026.

ManyChat alternatives compared: prices and limits

Every number below comes from the vendor's own pricing page on 4 October 2026, on monthly billing. Where a page doesn't say, the cell says “Not listed”. The two cost rows are our math from those prices, assuming one DM per person.

Checked 4 Oct 2026 on each vendor's pricing page. ManyChat is cheaper on annual billing ($14, $29, $69 and $139 a month). Inrō's numbers come from the price calculator on its pricing page. SuperProfile's pricing page returned a security check (HTTP 429) to our reader, so we left it blank rather than guess. DMFa.st is ours: it's invite-only, everyone is on Free today, and the paid plans shown aren't open yet.

Instagram features side by side

All nine send a DM when someone comments a keyword. The differences show up in the extras, and in which plan unlocks them.

Which ManyChat alternative fits you?

Answer four questions. The picker ranks tools by price inside your budget, then by how much room the plan leaves. It will send you to a competitor when one fits better. DMFa.st ranks below every open tool that fits your budget, because it's invite-only right now.

Try it: which ManyChat alternative fits you?

1. Where do people message you?
2. People who comment your keyword each month
3. Monthly budget
4. Must-have

Best fits for 1,000 people a month

  1. 1.Zorcha

    Free

    Free: unlimited DMs.

Good for: The biggest free plan: unlimited automations, DMs and contacts, with Ask for Follow.

Catch: Re-run, email capture and follow-ups need Pro ($14.99).

  2. 2.ReplyRush

    Free

    Free: 1,500 DMs a month.

Good for: Cheap paid volume: 7,500 DMs for $10, 40,000 for $25, Facebook included.

Catch: Free has no follow gate. Removing ReplyRush branding starts at $25.

  3. 3.LinkDM

    Free

    Free: 1,000 DMs a month.

Good for: A free plan with 1,000 DMs, and 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts for $19.

Catch: Follow gate, DM keyword triggers and branding removal are Pro features.

The other 6 tools
  • InstantDM: $9.99/mo on Legend Pro.
  • CreatorFlow: $15/mo on Pro.
  • Inrō: €19.99/mo on Pro.
  • DMFa.st: Free on Free (not open to everyone yet).
  • ManyChat: $39/mo on Pro (over budget).
  • SuperProfile: Its pricing page blocked our reader on 4 Oct 2026.

Monthly billing, from each vendor's own pricing page on 4 Oct 2026. One DM per person assumed; tools that count every message in a flow use their allowance faster. Inrō bills in euros and we compare €1 as $1. For 2+ accounts we assume two accounts with equal volume.

Is there a free ManyChat alternative for Instagram?

Yes, several, and most go much further than ManyChat's 25 people. Here is each free plan, drawn to scale:

What the free plan covers in a month

  • ManyChat25 contacts
  • Inrō100 contacts
  • CreatorFlow500 DMs
  • InstantDM500 automations
  • LinkDM1,000 DMs
  • DMFa.st1,000 auto-DMs · invite-only
  • ReplyRush1,500 DMs
  • ZorchaUnlimited DMs
  • SuperProfileNot listed

Bars to scale, 1,500 = full width. Units differ: contacts are people, DMs are messages, InstantDM counts “automations”. Zorcha's bar is striped because it lists no cap.

Free plan allowances per month, from each pricing page on 4 Oct 2026.

Three things the bars don't show:

  • Live automations are capped too. ManyChat Free allows 4, Inrō Free 3 and DMFa.st Free 5. CreatorFlow and Zorcha list unlimited automations on every plan.
  • Branding. ManyChat adds “Powered by Manychat” the first time it messages a contact. LinkDM, ReplyRush and DMFa.st also brand free DMs. Paid plans remove it, though on ReplyRush only from Boost ($25) up.
  • “Unlimited” still has a speed limit. Meta caps private replies per account per hour, whatever your plan says.

The 8 ManyChat alternatives, one by one

LinkDM

Free covers 1,000 DMs a month on one account, with post, Reel and Story automations. Pro is $19 a month for 25,000 DMs across 3 accounts, and adds the Follower Growth Tool (its follow gate), Universal Triggers (one keyword across posts, Stories, ads and your inbox) and Rewind for back-sending. Platinum+ is $99 for 300,000 DMs on 10 accounts. Best for: a real free tier that grows into high volume cheaply. Catch: free DMs carry LinkDM branding, and the follow gate and DM keyword triggers are Pro.

CreatorFlow

Free covers 500 DMs a month on one account, with comment-to-DM, Story replies and keyword triggers. Pro is $15 ($12 billed yearly) for 5,000 DMs per account on 2 accounts, with an email gate, follow gate and click tracking. Growth is $30 for 10,000 per account on 5. No other channels are listed. Best for: creators who want a flat price and a short setup. Catch: at the cap, Automations pause until the next billing cycle.

Inrō

Bills per active contact like ManyChat, but in euros: free for 100 contacts, then €12.99 up to 500, €19.99 up to 1,000 and €149.99 up to 10,000, per the calculator on its pricing page. It adds a CRM, campaigns, integrations and an AI agent. Best for: brands that want sales tooling around their DMs. Catch: One Instagram account connects to one Inrō organisation, so several accounts means several organisations.

InstantDM

Free covers 500 automations a month. Legend Pro is $9.99 for unlimited automations (paced at 750 an hour), with follow-for-link and email capture. Trendsetter is $24.99 and adds follow-ups and a viral-spike mode. Instagram and Facebook, with iOS and Android apps. Best for: lots of volume on one account for very little. Catch: extra accounts need a Multi plan (3 to 20 accounts), and the pricing page doesn't show its price.

Zorcha

The biggest free plan we found: Unlimited automations. Unlimited messages. Unlimited contacts. Free includes Ask for Follow and a basic DM queue. Pro is $14.99 ($9.99 billed yearly) and adds re-running older comments, DM variations, email and phone capture, and follow-ups. Instagram and Facebook. Best for: anyone who needs volume at $0. Catch: the extras you'd want when switching, like re-run, are Pro, and the pricing page doesn't say how many accounts each plan connects.

ReplyRush

Free covers 1,500 DMs on 1 Instagram and 1 Facebook account. Lite is $10 for 7,500 DMs with follow-gated DMs and email collection; Boost is $25 for 40,000 DMs on 3 accounts with no branding; Max is $100 for 400,000. Prices are also listed in rupees (₹900 for Lite). Best for: cheap paid volume. Catch: no follow gate on Free, and ReplyRush branding stays until Boost.

SuperProfile AutoDM

AutoDM triggers on post comments, Story replies and DMs, with “Ask for Follow” and email capture, and SuperProfile says Meta certified it as a Verified Tech Provider. Its AutoDM page says “Free to start” and offers a 7-day free trial. We couldn't read its prices: the pricing page returned a security check to our reader on 4 October. Best for: creators already using SuperProfile's other creator tools. Catch: check the price yourself before you commit.

DMFa.st (ours)

Instagram only, through Meta's official API. Free covers 1 account, 5 live automations and 1,000 auto-DMs a month, and free DMs end with “Sent with DMFa.st”. Planned paid plans are flat, with no per-contact fees: Creator $15 (10,000 auto-DMs, 2 accounts), Pro $29 (30,000, 5 accounts), Agency $99 (120,000, 25 accounts). It does comment-to-DM, Story replies and mentions, DM keywords, an opt-in follow gate, email and phone questions, and re-runs missed comments from the last 7 days. Every DM that didn't go out shows the reason. Catch: it's invite-only right now, and paid plans aren't open yet.

ManyChat vs LinkDM

These two come up together most often, because they solve the same Instagram problem from opposite ends: ManyChat bills people across many channels, LinkDM bills DMs on Instagram and Facebook.

Is LinkDM better than ManyChat? For Instagram-only comment-to-DM, on price, yes: its free plan covers 40 times as many people, and its $19 Pro buys 25,000 DMs, 100 times the 250 contacts in ManyChat's $17 Essential. ManyChat wins when you need WhatsApp, SMS, email or AI replies, or long conversations with a small number of people.

Looking for a LinkDM alternative instead? If LinkDM's Free is missing the follow gate, Zorcha includes one free. If you're paying $19 for Pro but send under 7,500 DMs a month on one account, ReplyRush Lite ($10) or InstantDM Legend Pro ($9.99) cost about half.

How to switch from ManyChat without losing comments

Don't expect an import. CreatorFlow's switching guide puts it plainly: Nothing imports from another tool. InstantDM's says ManyChat automations do not transfer. Plan to rebuild, which for most comment-to-DM setups means a keyword, an opener and a link per post.

  1. Write down every live automation

For each post: the keywords, the opening message, the button labels and the link. If you're rethinking keywords anyway, our comment keyword ideas list has 60 by niche.

  2. Export the contacts you want to keep

ManyChat's help center routes a full export of contact data through its Google Sheets integration, sent as a broadcast, or through an External Request for developers.

  3. Set up the new tool, then turn the old one off post by post

Vendors disagree on overlap. CreatorFlow tells you to set up alongside your current tool; InstantDM says the two cannot run simultaneously. Meta's docs we read don't settle it. Either way, only one tool should answer each post, because a comment gets one private reply (see below).

  4. Catch up on the last 7 days

Comments from the past week can still get their DM. Use the new tool's re-run: Rewind (LinkDM, CreatorFlow), SendBack (ReplyRush), Re Run (Zorcha Pro) or Re-run missed comments (DMFa.st).

When to stay on ManyChat

ManyChat is the right tool for plenty of accounts. Stay if:

  • You need more than Instagram and Facebook. WhatsApp, SMS, email, Telegram and TikTok in one inbox. None of the alternatives we checked list those as automation channels.
  • You have long conversations with few people. Contact billing charges once per person per month, however many messages. A coach chatting at length with 200 leads a month fits in Essential's 250 contacts for $17.
  • You use AI replies, broadcasts or a shared team inbox. AI and broadcasts start on Pro; a shared team inbox with 3 seats starts on Business.
  • You DM new followers. ManyChat's Instagram page advertises Automatically DM new followers. We didn't find it on the alternatives' pricing pages, and CreatorFlow's help center says it has no way to detect when someone follows you through the official API. Test this before you leave if you rely on it.
  • Your flows are big. Branching sequences, tags and integrations take real time to rebuild. Price that time in.

ManyChat alternatives: FAQ

Is there a free alternative to ManyChat for Instagram?

Yes. Zorcha's free plan lists unlimited DMs, automations and contacts, with a follow gate. ReplyRush Free covers 1,500 DMs a month, LinkDM Free 1,000, CreatorFlow and InstantDM 500, and Inrō 100 contacts. ManyChat Free covers 25 contacts. DMFa.st Free covers 1,000 auto-DMs, but it's invite-only for now.

What is the cheapest alternative to ManyChat?

At $0, Zorcha. For a paid plan, InstantDM Legend Pro ($9.99 a month, unlimited automations on one account) and ReplyRush Lite ($10, 7,500 DMs). For comparison, 1,000 people a month on ManyChat costs $39 on Pro, and 10,000 costs $161.50 on Business with overage.

Is LinkDM better than ManyChat?

For Instagram comment-to-DM on a budget, yes: 1,000 free DMs against 25 free contacts, and $19 for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts. ManyChat is better if you need WhatsApp, SMS, email, TikTok or AI replies.

Can I move my ManyChat automations to another tool?

Not automatically. You rebuild them in the new tool, export contacts through ManyChat's Google Sheets integration if you need them, and re-run the last 7 days of comments once the new tool is live.

Do “unlimited DM” plans really have no limit?

They have no plan limit, but Meta still caps private replies at 750 an hour per Instagram account. Big spikes queue up on every tool. We explain the numbers in Instagram DM limits.

Which ManyChat alternative has a follow gate on the free plan?

Zorcha includes Ask for Follow on Free, and DMFa.st's opt-in gate works on every plan. LinkDM, CreatorFlow and ReplyRush keep it on paid plans. Before you turn one on, read Meta's spam rule on gating above.
