Pick a number: 25,000. Put that many commenters through each tool in one month and the bills land ten times apart: $19 on LinkDM Pro, $199 on ManyChat Advanced. Even LinkDM's own comparison page can't decide what ManyChat charges for it: the opening paragraph says $165, the table under it says $199. (ManyChat's pricing page says $199 a month, or $139 a month billed yearly.)
And yet ManyChat's pricing page claims “1M+ creators, marketers & brands”, against LinkDM's “60,000+”. The price gap is real, but it only settles one job: sending a link to people who comment a keyword. Everything else, from WhatsApp to Facebook Pages to what happens in the first hour of a viral Reel, is below.

LinkDM vs ManyChat: DMs vs Active Contacts
The two tools meter the same work in different units, and the unit decides almost everything about your bill.
- ManyChat bills people.
One person = one Active Contact for the month.
Someone counts whenmessages are sent or received through Manychat - via automations, AI, Broadcasts, or the Inbox
. The count resets each billing cycle, which starts on the day you subscribed. - LinkDM bills messages. Its monthly sends are
the number of Direct Messages (DMs) a user can send within a given month
. The count resetsat midnight on the 1st of each month
, in a time zone you choose.
One person comments, taps, gets the link. What does that cost?
ManyChat
1 Active Contact
for the whole month, however many messages you swap. A broadcast or a reply you type in its Inbox counts too.
LinkDM
1 DM
for the message with the link. In a Flow the starter message is free, but each Reminder or extra DM counts again.
DMFa.st
1 auto-DM
for the comment it answered. The follow-up nudge in the same chat doesn't count.
For comment-to-DM, one commenter is one contact and one DM, so the units line up and the comparison is fair. They drift apart when you send many automated messages to the same people. Even then the gap is small: 200 people getting 10 automated messages each is 2,000 DMs, $19 a month on LinkDM Pro, against $17 for 250 people on ManyChat Essential.
LinkDM vs ManyChat pricing at your volume
Here is the cheapest plan on each tool that answers everyone, at four volumes. ManyChat prices are its monthly list prices plus its published overage; LinkDM's are flat. The volume rows are our math from those prices.
| Feature | ManyChat | LinkDM | DMFa.st |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bills by | People a month | DMs sent a month | Auto-DMs a month |
| Free plan | 25 people | 1,000 DMs | 1,000 auto-DMs |
| 500 a monthour math | $39 (Pro) | $0 (Free) | $0 (Free) |
| 2,500 a monthour math | $39 (Pro) | $19 (Pro) | $15 (Creator) |
| 10,000 a monthour math | $161.50 (Business + overage) | $19 (Pro) | $15 (Creator) |
| 25,000 a monthour math | $199 (Advanced) | $19 (Pro) | $29 (Pro) |
| Biggest published plan | $199: 25,000 people, then $0.004 each or less | $99: 300,000 DMs | $99: 120,000 auto-DMs |
| Billed yearly | $14, $29, $69, $139 a month | Pro $182, Platinum+ $832 a year | Not on sale yet |
| Over the limit | Fee per extra person, on by default | Stops until the 1st, or buy DM credits | Logged, not answered |
| Instagram accounts | 1 per ManyChat account, each billed apart | 1 Free, 3 Pro, 10 Platinum+ | 1 Free, 2, 5 or 25 paid |
Move the slider to your own number. Turn on the viral month to see what a Reel that takes off does to each bill, and what happens if you leave your plan alone.

Assumes one DM per person: each person comments once and gets one message. ManyChat counts people, LinkDM counts DMs sent, DMFa.st counts auto-DMs. Monthly billing, US dollars before tax, from each vendor's pages on 4 Oct 2026. ManyChat sets prices by billing country; above 25,000 people its rate is “$0.004 … or less”, so that figure is a ceiling. LinkDM DM credit packs, annual discounts and ManyChat's extra Inbox seats are left out.
Three things the table hides:
- Annual billing narrows the gap. On ManyChat's yearly prices, 10,000 people is $114 a month (Business, $69 plus 2,500 extra at $0.018) and 25,000 is $139. LinkDM Pro billed yearly is $182, about $15.17 a month.
- Several accounts multiply on ManyChat. Its help center says
you can connect only one Instagram account to a Manychat account at a time
, and that with several ManyChat accountseach one is billed separately
. Three Instagram accounts with 2,000 people each is three Pro plans, $117 a month. On LinkDM Pro it's one $19 plan. - LinkDM sells top-ups. DM credits kick in after your monthly cap: 1,000 for $5, 20,000 for $15, up to 1,000,000 for $350. They
do not expire
and are shared across your accounts. The help page doesn't say whether Free accounts can buy them, so the slider leaves them out.
Is LinkDM free? LinkDM vs ManyChat free plans
Yes. LinkDM Free costs $0, needs no credit card and sends up to 1,000 DMs a month from one Instagram account, on as many posts as you like. ManyChat Free is $0 too, but covers 25 people a month.

What each free plan leaves out:
- LinkDM Free includes post, Reel and Story automations, Story mentions, Facebook, Inbox Starters and a “share to inbox” trigger. Public comment replies, the follow gate (its Follower Growth Tool), DM keyword replies, email capture (Lead Gen), Rewind, reminder DMs and branding removal are all Pro.
- ManyChat Free includes comment, Story reply and DM automations (plus new-follower ones, where Meta allows), up to 4 live at once, on 2 channels from Instagram, TikTok, Messenger and Telegram. Email capture and follower checks start on Essential ($17); AI replies on Pro ($39).
- Both brand free DMs. ManyChat adds “Powered by Manychat” the first time you message someone; LinkDM lists “Remove LinkDM Branding” as a Pro feature.
If you're choosing purely on free plans, our ManyChat alternatives roundup compares free tiers across eight tools, LinkDM included.
LinkDM vs ManyChat: Instagram features side by side
Both send the DM. The differences are in the extras and in which plan unlocks them. “Free”, “Essential” and “Pro” mean the cheapest plan that includes the feature.

A few rows need a sentence:
- Follow-ups. LinkDM's Reminder DM goes out up to 24 hours later, and only if they didn't click. ManyChat's creator FAQ suggests scheduling a message
around the 23-hour mark
, because Meta's messaging window closes at 24 hours. - New followers. ManyChat's Follow to DM is in beta, and
Eligibility for this automation is determined by Meta, not Manychat
. We explain why other tools can't offer it in how to auto-DM new followers on Instagram. - Facebook Page. LinkDM's prerequisites say
You must have a Facebook page. A personal Facebook account is not sufficient.
ManyChat offers a “Connect via Instagram” option thatdoes not require a Meta Business account
.
LinkDM vs ManyChat when a Reel goes viral
A viral Reel is where the two billing models split hardest. ManyChat keeps sending and bills you for it. LinkDM keeps your price and stops sending at the cap. Neither is wrong; you just need to know which one you're on before the Reel lands.
Take a creator who normally reaches 500 people a month, on the cheapest plan for that: ManyChat Pro ($39) or LinkDM Free ($0). Then one Reel brings 20,000 commenters.
| Feature | Change nothing | Cheapest way to answer everyone |
|---|---|---|
| ManyChat | $914: $39 + 17,500 extra × $0.05, all answered | About $199: move to Advanced in the same cycle |
| LinkDM | $0, but DMs stop at 1,000. 19,000 get nothing | $19: Pro covers 25,000 DMs |
| DMFa.st | $0, 19,000 logged and not answered | $29: Pro covers 30,000 (not on sale yet) |
ManyChat lets you cap the bill instead: set a contact limit and, once reached, automations keep running only for people already active that month. Our ManyChat pricing breakdown walks through that month in detail.
The bigger surprise is speed. Every tool has to stay under Meta's hourly cap, and each handles the overflow differently:
A Reel pulls 2,000 keyword comments in its first hour
DM sent in hour oneWaits in a queueNever gets the DM
LinkDM Free500 in hour one
Not queued. Free “will resume sending to new comments only at the start of the next hour”.
LinkDM Pro500 in hour one
Queued and sent at the start of the next hours: about 4 hours in all.
DMFa.st, any plan600 in hour one
Queued, never dropped inside Meta's 7-day window: under 4 hours in all.
ManyChatNot published
We found no published sending pace in its help center or pricing page.
Meta's ceiling, any tool750 in hour one
750 private replies an hour per account: no tool can answer 2,000 in less than about 2 hours 40 minutes.
On LinkDM Free, a Reel that pulls more than 500 keyword comments in one hour loses everyone past the 500th that hour, and Rewind, which back-sends to missed comments, is a Pro feature. If you expect a spike, LinkDM Pro ($19 for 25,000 DMs, with a queue) is cheap insurance.
Is LinkDM safe? Is ManyChat?
Both are as safe as an automation tool gets on Instagram. Each says it sends through Instagram's official API, and both connect your account through Meta's own login screens, not your password. Neither can protect you from Meta's own spam systems, and both say so.

Meta says soOnly one message can be sent to the commenter
Meta developer docs, Private Replies
“Meta sets the rules, and we all have to follow them.”
What actually gets accounts flagged is behaviour, not the tool. ManyChat lists sending Too many automated messages too quickly
, aggressive copy-paste public replies and several accounts doing the same thing. LinkDM adds a group it can't help: accounts posting AI-generated content, where it says Meta may stop providing LinkDM with the live comment signals
once posts get wide reach, and the restriction doesn't show up in Account Health.
Support, branding and refunds
| Feature | ManyChat | LinkDM |
|---|---|---|
| Support on the free plan | Help Center, Community, AI chatbot | Email, support@linkdm.com |
| Support on paid plans | Email tickets; faster on Business and up | Priority on Pro; chat with the team on Platinum+ |

| Refunds | Within 30 days of your first purchase | Full refund within 7 days of your first monthly purchase |
| Users per account | 1, 2, 3, 5 or 10 by plan | Not listed |
ManyChat is blunt about its support model: We don't offer phone or call support, and there is no live chat with the Support Team or a dedicated support email address.
Requests go through its AI chatbot, and the team replies by email. If you'd rather write to a person directly, LinkDM's plain email address is the simpler route. If ManyChat is already misbehaving, our ManyChat Instagram troubleshooting guide fixes most issues without a ticket.
Can you switch from ManyChat to LinkDM?
Yes. We found no import tool in LinkDM's help center, so plan to rebuild each automation by hand: a keyword, a message and a link per post. The order below keeps comments from falling through the gap.
Link a Facebook Page first
If you connected ManyChat with “Connect via Instagram”, you may not have one. LinkDM needs a Facebook Page linked to your Instagram professional account, plus full admin access to both.
Rebuild your automations in LinkDM
Link each post with its keyword. On Pro, Universal Triggers let one keyword answer across posts, Stories, ads and your inbox. Short on keyword ideas? Try our comment keyword ideas.
Turn ManyChat off post by post
Only one tool should answer each post. Meta allows one private reply per comment, so whichever tool answers first uses it up.
Catch the last 7 days with Rewind (Pro)
LinkDM lists “Transitioning from Manychat or Instachamp” as a reason to use Rewind. It skips comments older than 7 days, comments on ads and comments that
have already received a DM auto-reply
.Cancel ManyChat, then disconnect it
After you cancel, ManyChat keeps your plan to the end of the billing period, and overage from that period is still charged. Set a contact limit first. LinkDM's own “Delete Manychat” guide also has you remove ManyChat from your Facebook Business Integrations.
LinkDM or ManyChat: which one should you pick?
Pick LinkDM if your job is Instagram (and maybe Facebook) comment-to-DM, you reach more than a couple of hundred people a month, you run more than one account, or your Reels spike. It costs less than ManyChat at every volume above 25 people a month, and Pro at $19 is cheaper viral-month insurance than any ManyChat plan. You need a Facebook Page.
Pick ManyChat if Instagram is one channel of several (WhatsApp, TikTok, Messenger, Telegram, SMS or email), you want AI that answers DMs and comments, you need a shared team inbox, or you want to DM new followers and Meta has opened the beta to you. Its 14-day trial lets you test the paid features first.
Where DMFa.st fits. DMFa.st is ours, so weigh this accordingly. It does Instagram only, through Instagram's own login, and puts the extras LinkDM keeps on Pro on its free plan: DM keywords, an opt-in follow gate, email and phone questions, one follow-up and re-running missed comments from the last 7 days. Free covers 1,000 auto-DMs a month on one account, with 5 live automations, and its DMs end with “Sent with DMFa.st”. It has no Facebook, AI, broadcasts or new-follower DMs, it's invite-only right now, and the $15, $29 and $99 plans aren't on sale yet.
LinkDM vs ManyChat: FAQ
Is LinkDM better than ManyChat?
For Instagram comment-to-DM on a budget, yes: 1,000 free DMs a month against 25 free people, and $19 for 25,000 DMs on 3 accounts against $199 for 25,000 people on one. ManyChat is better if you need other channels, AI replies, a team inbox or new-follower DMs, or if you have no Facebook Page.
Is LinkDM free?
Yes. LinkDM Free is $0 with no credit card, for one Instagram account and up to 1,000 DMs a month, with post, Reel and Story automations. At 1,000, DMs stop until the 1st of the next month. Pro is $19 a month, or $182 a year.
Is LinkDM safe for my Instagram account?
LinkDM says it exclusively uses the official Instagram APIs
, has been a Meta Business Partner since 2021 and will never ask for your password. That makes it as safe as ManyChat in the way that matters. Meta can still restrict any account that sends spammy patterns, whatever tool it uses, and LinkDM keeps sending under Meta's hourly cap (500 an hour) to help.
Can I switch from ManyChat to LinkDM?
Yes. Link a Facebook Page, rebuild your automations, switch ManyChat off post by post, then use Rewind (Pro) to DM comments from the last 7 days that ManyChat hadn't answered. Cancel ManyChat last, after setting a contact limit.
Which is cheaper for a viral Reel?
LinkDM. Pro at $19 covers 25,000 DMs a month, and a 20,000-person month costs about $199 on ManyChat if you upgrade to Advanced in time, or $914 if you stay on Pro with default overage. On LinkDM Free, though, DMs stop at 1,000 and comments past 500 in an hour aren't queued, so upgrade before the spike, not after.
What's a good LinkDM alternative?
If LinkDM's Facebook Page requirement or Pro-only features are the problem, compare the eight tools in our ManyChat alternatives roundup, several of which offer a follow gate or larger free tiers. DMFa.st is another, once it opens beyond invites.
